Class of 2015

Freshman Class Council

Dear Class of 2015,

As we begin the start of our second semester together, we have solidified our transition from high school to college.  It seems like not too long ago that we first began our journey during Welcome Week, and since then we have all been hard at work with our respective studies and extra-curricular activities.  As we look back at the progress we have made in our post-secondary careers thus far, it is also extremely important to look ahead at the tasks and challenges that lay in front of us.

When we first came to TCNJ during the last week of August, we all had our own identities and thoughts about what our experiences would be.  Now that we are more than a semester into our endeavors, we have meshed into one unifying identity: TCNJ’s Class of 2015.  However, we still have many semesters left together, and we must continue to strengthen our identity as a class and strengthen our bonds.  By participating in class events, you will have the opportunity to network with classmates and build friendships.  Through fundraisers, you will be able to help our class work towards Senior Week, which will be here before we know it.

I can’t stress enough the importance of being an active member of our community, no matter where you live, what your major is, and what your hobbies include.  I said in the beginning of the year that we have opportunity to set a precedence for all future classes and raise the bar.  We have the potential to accomplish great things, but our strength lies in YOU.  So get ready for great programs, fundraisers, and events in the upcoming semester!  We can’t wait to see you there!

Sincerely,

Brian Garsh
Freshman President

President: Brian Garsh
My name is Brian Garsh and I am a Chemistry Secondary Education major expected to graduate in 2015. In high school, I was involved in a variety of activities and organizations, including the Varsity Soccer and Swim Teams, National Honor Society, Student Council, and the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). As a member of various groups in high school, I was given the opportunity to make a difference in my life and the lives of those around me.  I understand what a body of students can accomplish when they work toward a cause.  As the TCNJ Class of 2015 President, I ensure that the voices of our class members will be heard in order to make an impact in the college community and our surrounding area. Together, we can show what we are capable of.  Together, we can leave a legacy for future classes to follow.  Together, we have the potential to be the best class that The College of New Jersey has every seen!

Vice President: Kristen Lipari
My name is Kristen Lipari and I am the Freshman Vice President. I am currently an Elementary Education/ English major; however, I would like to change my second major from English to Psychology. Upon graduation from college I hope to become a teacher while continuing my studies in an effort to earn a Master’s degree.  My ultimate goal is to become a Child Psychologist. Working with children has always been my passion and I hope to spend my life helping children to raise their self-esteem. I decided to participate in Student Government because I want to be a part of making TCNJ a better place while giving my class a great freshman year filled with activities designed to bring us all closer as a class. My goal is to make our freshman year a memorable experience by crafting a number of worthwhile activities and providing our class with new and exciting opportunities that may not be available today.

Secretary: Erin Waller
Hi, my name is Erin Waller, I am the Freshman Class Secretary. I am majoring in Special Education and Psychology as well as on the Varsity Field Hockey and Lacrosse team. I decided to do Student Government here at TCNJ because that was something I did not do in High School which I regretted. I also decided to do student government because of my Ambassador who really sparked my interest in getting involved in SG.

Treasurer: Mehak Aswani
My name is Mehak Aswani and I’m the Freshman Class Treasurer.  I’m from Closter, NJ and an International Studies Major.  I live in the Wolfe Residence Hall, and absolutely love TCNJ.   I have always been told that “Democracy is not a Spectator Sport,” and that is why I am ran for Freshman Class Treasurer, because I want to make a difference in the community I have become a part of. Student Government has become my life, and I love it because I consider it to be the most important organization on campus. FCC <3
